Fred and Robbo get busy and draw up a couple of friendly downtown Austin bike routes that'll show you a thing or two about Austin you probably didn't know. Check it out.

Fred’s Clarkstown & Town Lake Ride

This is a nice little ride of just under 10 miles that shows a fair part of downtown Austin. Beginning in the Randalls grocery store parking lot, you experience a slow climb through Tarrytown and then descend to Mopac, crossing under the freeway and then up to 34th Street where you cross both Lamar and Guadalupe, riding through old neighborhoods of faculty and students before coming south on Speedway through the UT campus. Experience the discrimination against bicycles (in favor of pedestrians) with the dismount area, ride around the capitol and down Congress Avenue where you will cross Town Lake not once, but twice on first a full traffic bridge and then a bike/ped bridge and experience one of Austin’s most visually interesting (on warm, sunny days) multi-use paths as you head back to the starting point.

Begin this ride in the parking lot of Randalls on Lake Austin Blvd at Exposition.
